Science-Based Dog Training

Private Lessons & Behavior Services

Canine Traning Professional

We offer private in-home training in the South Jersey area. We are dedicated to dog training methods proven by science and backed by the world's top professional trainers, behaviorists, veterinarians, and credible dog training organizations and schools. Whether you are in need of assistance with your new puppy, have behavior problems with your adult dog, or are just looking to give your dog some new skills - positive reinforcement training is the answer. By providing our clients with the knowledge they need, we strive to help them understand how our canine companions think and learn and how they can be negatively affected by punitive methods. Our goal is to assist our clients with being well-informed so that they can enhance the bond with their dogs, and we have an emphasis on this throughout our training program. We are here to teach your dog, while also giving you the skills and understanding needed to problem-solve and work successfully with your pup for his/her lifetime.

Day & Train Programs

Finally, a board-and-train type of program without needing to send your dog away! Our day training program is perfect for busy professionals or family who prefer expert training instead of instruction, producing a well-trained dog without interrupting your busy schedule. Essentially, we train your dog while you’re out working, playing, attending school, or parenting! This option not only provides training to your dog, but also mental stimulation and an outlet for their energy! We will also give your dog a potty break while we are over.

This program applies to those within our immediate service area and is available depending on the client’s availability and ours. Each session is about 50-60 minutes long.

  • 6 sessions

  • 10 session

  • 14 sessions

  • One of the major benefits of this program is that the trainer comes to your home about 2-3 times a week to work one-on-one with your dog leaving little to do on your part other than maintain what your dog has already learned with us!

  • We guarantee that the training done in your home will always be force-free, pain-free, and fear-free. We will not use any tools or devices to hurt or intimidate your dog. All of our training is done with positive reinforcement and our goal is to facilitate a healthy, happy, stress-free learning environment when working with your dog.

  • Each program includes 1 session to do a meet and greet, go over your training goals for your dog, and do an overall training evaluation. At this time you will also instruct us on how to access your home, provide a key, or show us where to locate the key. Full payment will be due during this first session. Each program also offers 1 transfer session (the last one in the program) to meet again with you to go over all learned behaviors, as well as instructions on how to maintain your dog’s training progress.

*You will schedule your first and last sessions (in which you will be present for) for our Day & Train Program through our booking site on our website. The remainder of the sessions for the program will be personally scheduled via email (not through the booking site) as these are customized programs based on the client's needs and their/our availability.*

*The Day & Train Program is not suitable for dogs with any aggression issues. Please see our private in-home training options for assistance with behavioral issues.*

Expert Puppy Socialization

(For puppies 8 weeks to 16 weeks old – during their “critical socialization period”.)

  • 6 one hour personal sessions with our trainer working with your pup on socialization to a variety of people, places, sounds, sights, smells, and

    situations

  • Puppies have a critical socialization period, which starts at about 8 weeks

and ends at about 16 weeks of age. Behavioral scientists have determined it

to be the most important window of time for a puppy’s social development.

  • It is so important to introduce your puppy to a variety of people, animals,

sounds, smells, sights, and situations – in a way that will leave a lasting, positive impression. If your busy schedule makes focusing on your young puppy’s needs difficult during this short window of time, or you’re just not sure what to cover, let us do it for you!

  • This is a special puppy version of our Day & Train Program, which includes 1 evaluation session, 4 socialization and training sessions, and 1 transfer session with you (6 one-hour sessions in total)

  • We will safely and positively expose your puppy to a variety of things to help them become a confident and well-behaved adult dog, including:

    • Unfamiliar people – men with hats, women in sunglasses, people wearing backpacks, children playing, etc.

    • Sights and sounds – car alarms, crowds of people, car horns, doorbells, cars, sounds of laughter, sounds of crying, etc.

    • Places – pet stores, dog friendly stores, parks, veterinarian offices, etc.

    • Objects and flooring – brooms, garbage cans, vacuum cleaners, tile floor, stairs, etc.

    • Other animals – male adult dog, female adult dog, decoy rabbit, decoy large dog, decoy small dog, etc.

    • Body handling – touching feet, checking ears, touching their collar, touching their tail, being held, etc. This will assist with helping your pup be good at the groomers, vet office, and at home care

What’s Included:

  • Detailed checklist of what your puppy is exposed to specifically and how they did each session

  • Emailed summary for each visit along with any necessary practice instructions

  • Videos of your puppy being worked with

  • Continued support via email, phone, or text

*You will schedule your first and last sessions (in which you will be present for) for our Expert Puppy Socialization Program through our booking site on our website. The remainder of the sessions for this program will be personally scheduled via email (not through the booking site) as these are customized programs based on the client's needs and their/our availability.* This program applies to those within our immediate service area and is available depending on the client’s availability and ours.

Behavior Consults

(Accepted on a case-by-case basis)

  • Behavioral cases involving fear, separation anxiety, aggression, resource guarding, reactivity, and phobias are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Behavioral problems can take a significant amount of time (usually more than one or two sessions). It also involves patience, consistency, effort, and a commitment from both you and the trainer – and at times with only slow and small significant improvements initially. For these reasons, we only accept a limited number of advanced behavior consults

  • Our first session/consultation is spent interviewing you extensively about your dog, answering your questions, explaining the possible causes of the problem behavior, going over options available to fix or improve upon the situation, and giving you detailed, easy to follow instructions for you to begin implementing right away. Afterwards, depending on the time that remains, we may evaluate your dog, as needed for your specific case.

  • After our first session/consultation – we will contact you within 24 hours to inform you whether we’ll take your case for on-going training

Remote Consultations
  • 30 min and 60 min consults available

  • This is a great option for people who:

    • Are preparing for a new puppy

    • Want coaching on a skill or a particular behavior

    • Haven’t had a dog in years and want advice before the dog arrives

    • Are currently a client and need some more detailed advice or support in-between sessions

    • Want a behavior consult with us but live out of our service area

  • Remote consultations can be done via Skype, FaceTime, or over the phone

  • Please email us for availabilty to schedule
